1. What the BLI is

The Black Leadership Inventory ("BLI") is a self-administered leadership development and reflection tool created by Dr. Daveon Swan and The Formation Collective, Inc. It is designed to help you identify and develop patterns in how you lead, drawing on the Black leadership tradition.

The BLI is not a clinical, psychological, or medical diagnostic instrument. It does not assess, diagnose, or treat any mental health condition, and it is not a substitute for professional psychological, medical, or clinical evaluation. If you are experiencing a mental health concern, please consult a qualified professional.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account.

3. Acceptable use

You agree to use the BLI for its intended purpose of individual or organizational leadership development. You may not use assessment results to make employment, promotion, termination, or other adverse decisions about a person without independent, lawful justification — the BLI is a development tool, not a validated selection or employment-screening instrument.

4. Organizational and cohort licenses

If your organization administers the BLI to members under a cohort license, your organization is responsible for obtaining any consent required from its members and for how it uses aggregate or individual results made available to it, consistent with our Privacy Policy.

5. Payments

Extended Reports, cohort licenses, and coaching engagements are one-time or per-session purchases as described on our Pricing page at the time of purchase. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or as we otherwise state at checkout.

6. Intellectual property

The BLI framework, archetype descriptions, and related content are the property of The Formation Collective, Inc. Your individual responses and results belong to you; we use them only as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The BLI is provided "as is" for developmental and reflective purposes. We make no warranty that it is error-free or that any particular outcome will result from its use. To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Formation Collective, Inc. is not liable for decisions made on the basis of your results.
